Welcome to the Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge 2022!
Our planet is facing unprecedented challenges. Threats to our environment with global warming, excessive single-use waste and depleting natural resources have instigated an urgent need to develop and implement solutions to help sustain our planet for future generations.
Our 4th edition of the Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge, launched by Enterprise Singapore, aims to bring together industry partners and creative innovators to co-develop sustainable solutions. Solutions should be implemented locally and regionally before pushing them out on a global scale.
For this challenge, each of our industry partners bring a unique challenge statement addressing key themes of Green Buildings, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Food Source, Zero-waste, Sustainable Materials and Packaging.
Winning innovators will access a unique opportunity for co-innovation with corporates, benefiting from their extensive expertise, mentorship and resources. Other prize rewards include potential grant support from Enterprise Singapore, S$70,000 from Hexagon Group, alongside potential funding and test-bedding opportunities from the industry partners themselves.

Singapore Fashion Council is the official trade association for the fashion industry in Singapore, that works to position Singapore as an innovation fashion hub for Southeast Asia. In this year’s challenge edition, EnterpriseSG and Singapore Fashion Council have collaborated with Teo Garments, RGE-NTU SusTex, and Asia Pacific Rayon as challenge statement owners to find innovative and sustainable solutions for the fashion and lifestyle industry.
SAIL is a national platform, hosted by NTU and partnered by Enterprise Singapore, to bridge agribusinesses with SMEs, Start-ups, industry partners for innovation, investments and market opportunities. It aims to accelerate innovation and reap the growing economic opportunities in the agri-food sector. SAIL has onboarded CNH Industrial Services as a challenge statement owner to find solutions and opportunities in the agri-food sector.
In this year’s challenge edition, SEMI has onboarded GlobalFoundries as a challenge statement owner to find innovative and sustainable solutions for the semiconductor industry focused on circularity (water & waste). SEA Challenge awardees will automatically enter SEMI’s annual Startups for Sustainability pitch event and mentoring program (semi.org/startups), where they will gain visibility to US-based sustainability VCs and CVCs. SEA Challenge awardees will also be featured at SEMICON West in San Francisco next year.
The Liveability Challenge is a global platform that hunts for and accelerates the launch of innovative solutions to urban challenges of the 21st century in cities in the tropics.
Established in 2018, TLC, as it is affectionately known, has grown to become Asia’s largest sustainability solutions platform with a global reach and a reputation for helping companies – whose innovative technologies are disrupting industries — to create a significant positive impact on society and the planet.

During the closing ceremony, our sponsoring partner Hexagon Group will select one innovator among all the winning innovators and award them S$70,000 prize money.
Innovators can now register on the platform and submit their solutions by completing the participation form and submitting a proposal deck.
Challenge statement owners will evaluate the proposals and select potential solutions to work with. The list of shortlisted innovators will be announced by March 29, 2023.
Following that, shortlisted innovators will have the opportunity to be connected directly with the challenge statement owners and engage with them for further clarification and final evaluation.
A grouped closing ceremony will be conducted with all the challenge statement owners and winning innovators.
